  • A driver must be at least 20 years old. Drivers of small automobiles must pay an extra young driver fee if they are under the age of 20. Drivers under the age of 23 must pay an extra young driver fee while operating a minibus or a large SUV.
  • Before the rental period began, all drivers had to have their licenses for at least a year. For the duration of the rental agreement, the driver must possess a valid license.
  • A valid passport and the relevant driver's license for the rented car group must be presented by all drivers at the start of the rental. Both IDs will be scanned and stored for a maximum of two years. Copies cannot be used.

A credit card is required by almost all rental companies. Cards that are electronic, virtual, or debit may not be accepted. If you acquire complete insurance coverage straight from the rental company's office, certain firms may, as an exception, take a debit card.

Rent a car without a deposit

Most of the rental cars in Russia are manual. Automatic cars cost more to rent, and if your license only lets you drive an automatic car, you won't be able to rent a stick shift car.

When traveling, renting a car is nearly always a good decision because it allows you to see sites at your own pace and on your own schedule. It's always nice to be able to avoid crowded bus or rail times and go in the early morning or late at night if it suits you better.

There are several insurance tiers available. The various insurance categories in Russia are described as follows:

  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) - It restricts the customer's liability throughout the rental period and establishes the maximum sum that the customer will be required to pay in the event of damages.
  • Theft Protection (TP) - If your automobile is stolen, this waiver reduces your liability to the vehicle's deductible/excess amount (proof required are a police report and the car keys). TP is typically included in the cost of renting a car.
  • Third Party Liability (TPL) - often referred to as Supplemental Liability Insurance, Extended Protection, Liability Protection, etc., covers both material and intangible losses caused to other people's vehicles, property, and even medical costs.

Unlimited third-party liability insurance is required in Russia and is automatically bundled into the cost of all car rentals. Don't forget to carry evidence of insurance if you are traveling with your own vehicle.
