Car Rental in Laos

The same card must be used to guarantee the rental agreement when you pick up the vehicle. We accept two types of cards:

We will accept a credit card as a guarantee. Our front desk staff is not permitted to accept a credit card if it is not clearly designated as such.
If you purchase our Platinum Insurance plan for the duration of your rental time, we can acccept a debit or prepaid card.

Just keep in mind that the rental agreement must be signed in person at pick-up by the cardholder/renter, as well as by any other drivers. Additionally, the card must still be valid 100 days after the rental time has ended.

According to the rental policies of all car rental agencies, you can book the vehicle's essential features, but not a specific model. Because a specific model can break, be involved in an accident, be held by the prior tenant, etc. Your voucher will have a code that specifies the major parameters (e.g. CDAR). You can rent almost any kind of car in Laos, from small, cheap cars to high-end ones. Here are some things you might want to think about:

A size of the car: A bigger car may be more comfortable on the highway, but many beautiful villages in Laos have narrow streets. Parking garages are often small, and getting in and out of them can be a nightmare. Renault Twingo is the most well-liked model among economy classes in Laos. For those who want some extra comfort and have the appropriate budget, EAST COAST is ready to offer a Business-class model - BMW 5 series, price starts at 58$ per day.
Most rental cars in Laos are manual, but more and more automatic cars are becoming available. Automatic cars usually cost more to rent, and if your license only lets you drive an automatic car, you won't be able to rent a stick shift car.

When traveling, renting a car is nearly always a good decision because it allows you to see sites at your own pace and on your own schedule. It's always nice to be able to avoid crowded bus or rail times and go in the early morning or late at night if it suits you better.

Third-party liability insurance is mandatory in Laos for any car rental. This is typically offered at no extra cost with most rental car agencies.
